Ray Nosworthy wins Grant Davis Memorial Match Saturday 31st August


The Grant Davis Match at The Jubilee Fishery. The format of the match is that the anglers name is drawn out from the bag and the angler then chooses which peg they wish to fish from those available on Jubilee, Withies and Phil's pools.
There were cash prizes, medals and gifts for each winning angler. A decision was made to pay a total of five section prizes and the first,second and third individuals overall.
The winner of the 2019 Grant Davis Memorial Match was Ray Nosworthy weighing in a superb 61lb 15oz of carp from J7. Second place was taken by Steve Foster, last years winner weighing in 54lb 12oz of carp on J19. Narrowly beaten into third place was James Gardner weighing in 54lb 3oz of carp on J12.
Section winners were Billy Pitman weighing in 49lb 12oz on J1 ( Section J1,2,3,4,5 and 7), Phil Seedhouse weighing in 27lb 6oz on J8 ( Section J8,9,10,11,12 and 14), Chris Taylor weighing in 42lb 5oz on J16 ( Section J16,18,19,20 and 21) and Paul Sloss weighing in 19lb 4oz on J24 ( Section J22,23,24,25 and 26). The winner of the section incorporating Phil's and Withies Pools was Robin Ballard weighing in 13lb 8oz of carp on W15. There was a barbecue and raffle after the match to raise funds for St Richards Hospice. Thanks to the Davis family for their sterling efforts with the barbecue and raffle ticket sales. The full total raised from the match has not yet been determined but it believed that in excess of £500 was raised by the participants from donations, pools etc.

It is also worthy of note that Natalie Aylett won the ladies prize weighing in 19lb 3oz from J21. Cameron Pitman won the Junior prize weighing in 19lb 15oz on J5. Both anglers won an assortment of goodies including chocolates and biscuits.
